THE INFO REGARDING MIXED MARRIAGE

Marriage also called matrimony or wedlock is a social union or legal contract between people that create kinship. The term mixed marriage originated in roman Catholicism, where it refer to a marriage between a catholic and a non-catholic. Mixed marriage is also called exogamy

Mixed marriages can be classified to three categories. There are mixed marriages through the race, the state and inter-religious. Mixed marriage through the race is mixed marriages between two individuals involving different races an examples is an Indian man married to a Chinese woman.

Mixed marriage through nation is mixed marriage that happens between nations. The example is a Malay Muslim married to an Arabian Muslim. Mixed marriages between two individuals involving different religions. An example is one person who is a Hindu married to another person who is a Buddhist.

The positive impact of mixed marriage are we can know and learn about other race and culture. We also can spread religion. Children from Muslim marriage also inherits good genes Children of mixed marriage have proven to have better health. Generation of mixed marriages are also not racist and open minded to other cultures. There are unity and harmony among races in this country.

The negative effects of mixed marriage are religious belief easily shaken as they are open to foreign culture. The problem of communication between couples and family members. When the mother or father becomes apostates this will affect their children specially during the process of getting child custody. Commitment of husband to his wife who convert to Islam

In conclusion, mixed marriages have got both positive and negative impacts, to the couples and to their children

THE DAY WE MEET A FOREIGNER

We have discussed to arrange an interview with people to get their opinion about mixed marriage in Malaysia. Luckily one of our group members suddenly met with one foreign student in UKM who was pursuing Master in Physics at Faculty of Science and Technology. The guy was very nice to us and agreed to cooperate in our Project. He was from Iran and his name was Mr. Farid.

He also gave his opinion on how to improve our project. One of our group members had interviewed him to hear his opinion on mixed marriage. He shared his opinion on mixed marriage including the pro and cons of mixed marriage. We asked his opinion if given an option of mixed marriage. He was ready to answer our questions and co-operated well. We spent the entire day to finish the recording of interview session in order to get the best results. Fortunately our respondent was willing to co-operate until all the given tasks were done. The conversation recording took place at the third floor pathway around the FSSK but due to unclear voice recording had caused us to take decision to change to another location for this purpose. The recording was carried out at quite a closed area so that the voice could be clearly heard.

We felt grateful, delighted and never had thought we managed to befriend a person from another country as good as him. Warm-hearted, open-minded, and opinion sharing attitude made the all-day-long recording not bored or tired. On the completion of the recording session, we took an opportunity to chat with the Iran student. We got to ask about his motherland and exchanged ideas on a lot of things. He was willing to share exciting stories about his country which flourish our knowledge. We presented some souvenirs to the student as a token of appreciation for his willingness to spend his time to be interviewed.

PROJECT EXECUTION FROM TIME TO TIME

From time to time we have collected and combined all information and discussed every type of problems so that we could achieve the solutions together. Each group member has given their best commitment in executing the group’s assignment. We obtained a lot of information from various sources which helped us to add details to our project. Usually we would hold a meeting at PTSL or FSSK third floor pathway.

We held meeting weekly on days where none of us have lecture or activities. We would also meet up right after the end of lecture supposed there was an early dismissal. We made a video recording at PTSL but unfortunately we encountered some audio malfunctioning. Nevertheless the problem was fixed when one of our group members tried to get a video cam and thus we were able to re-record our conversation video.

We could see other groups’ tenacity doing discussion and strive to finish their assignment well. We were impressed with their enthusiasm and cooperation. Before the arrival of week 11, we have requested help from a few groups on obtaining information not just related to blog but how to use Windows Live Movie Maker. Various planning have been arranged from week to week to ensure the smoothness of the project flow. Every member worked hard so as the project can be fairly executed.

Assalamualaikum

Hello everybody. We are from group afasna, combination of our members’ name. We want to apologize for the late update of this blog and to give the description for our DST Project. We have chosen to present about mixed marriage issues in Malaysia. Why do we choose this topic? In our opinion this topic is related to our life.

Firstly we collect all data regarding mixed marriage in Malaysia. There we draw the statistic of mixed marriage in Malaysia. Based on the statistic, we found that a lot of Malaysians are involved in mixed marriage. There are not only for commoner but it applies to famous celebrities too. Why do you think this phenomenon happen? There are three types of mixed marriage that were studied. First off, marriage between two people of different races. For example marriage of Chinese woman to Indian man. Second type is marriage between two people from different nation. For example Malaysian marriage to American people. Lastly is marriage between people of different religions. For example Hindu marriage to a person who is a Buddhist.

Mixed marriage has its positive and negative effects. On the positive side, they learn about theirs partner’s race and culture. Apart from that, mixed marriage helps to spread religion. There is source that stated offspring from a mixed marriage inherit good genes. Through studies, it was proven that these offspring possess good health. Mixed marriage’s generation do not has racial attributes as they were exposed to different cultures, more open-minded and respect other cultures. Last but not least, unity and harmony between races in this country can be manifested.

Every affair has its pro and cons. There are also negative effects from mixed marriage. The first effect, religion’s belief becomes unsteady due to the exposure to foreign culture. Second effect is communication problem between partners and partners’ families. Other than that, when a mother or father apostate, it will give effect to their children should a custody battle happen. Spouse tends to bear enormous commitment to other half who embraced Islam. From here we can see, mixed marriage indeed renders positive and negative effects nevertheless it is up to partner themselves. If there is tolerance between each other and sense of responsibility then the marriage castle built can be preserved.

We hope the issue we bring up in this project can be treated as useful information to fellow friends. We from the asfana group would like to hear comment from our comrades on mixed marriage. You can share your own experience you knew about this issue. We highlighted this issue because it is close to the community and it is happening around us.
